Unlike the CNE, various small-town agenda types have tried to reduce or even dismantle the PNE over the decades. Fortunately, the PNE has been gradually been able to build itself up to something more than just a backwater county fair. There seems to be a multigenerational mentality to perpetuate a, NO FUN VANCOUVER agenda. Fortunately, this horrible backwards mentality hasn't been able to catch on with most cities around the world.
