Hastings Community Park and Hastings Park

https://www.chatterblock.com/resources/21262/hastings-community-park-vancouver-bc

Unfortunatly, there hasn't been a proper big city vision to have Hastings+Community+Park with a modern indoor & outside swimming pool and water park. This would have provided a nice entertainment counterpart to Hastings+Park and the PNE.

Popular Vancouver outdoor pool forced to close until further notice

 https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/new-brighton-pool-closed-mechanical-issue

Its strange that the area from Horseshoe+Bay to Hope,_BC, which has over 3 million people, only has a few outdoor swimming pools. That's the, pay more and get LE$$ in BC approach to things.

https://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/swimming-pools.aspx While Vancouver has less than a million people, the Lower_Mainland of BC does have over 3 million residents.

https://604now.com/vancouver-will-be-opening-more-outdoor-swimming-pools-this-may-long-weekend Unfortunatly, the Greater Vancouver Region should have had two dozen swimming pools by now, with most of them being enclosed.

Cold and Rainy Vancouver, BC

While the winter Climate_of_Vancouver is mild when compared to Edmonton, Winnipeg & Montreal, it's still cold & damp for at least half of the year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Vancouver#Temperatures

Some people do build private swimming+pools in Vancouver & SW BC, but unless they are heated & covered, it's pointless. That's because there are only a few months of the year when it's warm enough to be in an outdoor, unheated pool.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Vancouver#Rain

Summer is the best 3 months out of  the 12, but even during the summer the crappy, cold & damp weather can still drop by.

A promise for new 50-metre pool in South Vancouver?

 https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/abc-new-50-metre-pool-aquatic-centre-south-vancouver

It's strange that several decades ago, extra space wasn't set aside for more pools as well as expansion of existing facilities. Unfortunatly, Vancouver & BC in general, has such difficulty in properly planning infrastructure for more future capacity.

The Brisbane Aquatic Centre

Better make sure that no one from Vancouver, BC sees what Brisbane was already able to accomplish.

Fortunately, the watering down mentality of Vancouver is unlikely to ever reach Brisbane.
The Brisbane+Airport+Railway+Line is another fine example of allowing proper big city size infrastructure, something that backwards Vancouver & BC cant seem to match. It would be disastrous if something like a Vancouver Mind Virus was ever adopted in Brisbane. A 2 car joke-train to the Brisbane Airport would be so inadequate and absurd. However, a YVR Line connecting to Vancouver & Richmond with only 2 car trains, is acceptable by backwater BC standards.

Busy traffic weekend expected in North Vancouver for massive festival

 https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/north-vancouver-music-festival-traffic-impacts-2024

It's so sad and pathetic how the North_Shore_(Greater_Vancouver) has become such a fine example of inept transportation planning.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Shore_(Greater_Vancouver)#Access

The extremely narrow Lions_Gate_Bridge should have had an 8 lane tunnel built near it several decades ago. Then the Lions_Gate_Bridge could have become a nice bike and foot bridge. The inept Lions-Gate-Bridge is so narrow that several houses are wider than it. Even some home garages and swimming pools are wider than it. Thus, the Lions_Gate_Bridge is one of the best examples of congestive planning in backward BC. The bridge should have been designed to eventually become a few meters wider on each side. There also should have been a provision for a lower deck which could have allowed for a rail rapid transit line and rapid bus lanes.

The Ironworkers_Memorial_Second_Narrows_Crossing should have been designed with a provision to be widened a few meters on each side. After its collapse in 1958, the bridge should have been redesigned to have a wider main deck and a lower deck for trains and busses. The top deck should have been designed to have 4 lanes each way, with 2 wide shoulders and 2 wide sidewalks. Unfortunately, despite being the main connection to the Horseshoe_Bay_ferry_terminal, the rebuilt Ironworkers_Memorial_Bridge wasn't designed to have a lower transit deck and no emergency lanes. Thus, it remains as another one of the best examples of congestive planning in Vancouver.

The Canada_Line should have been planned as a long term, high capacity route between Horseshoe_Bay,_West_VancouverVancouver_International_Airport and the Tsawwassen_ferry_terminal. Again, the congestion planning mentality took priority.
