Hindsight is 20/20, of course. But not only didn’t happen and the problem got a whole lot worse—it seems, at least now, like an incredibly irresponsible thing to put in the pamphlets of an election campaign. It was a callous, cheap promise to make and one that showed a lack of understanding of the complexity of the issues at play.
